Message from Principal Marquez

Anthony Marquez

Dear Parents:

On behalf of the Paul D. Henry Elementary School staff, it is truly my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you as we begin the 2011-2012 school year at Paul D. Henry Elementary School. My name is Anthony Marquez, I am the principal at your child’s school. I am a 1997 graduate of New Mexico Highlands University and earned my Educational Leadership Masters in 2003. I am a native of Las Vegas, New Mexico and I myself attended Paul D. Henry as a child. I have been employed with Las Vegas City Schools for 12 years and have served in various capacities that have prepared me for this endeavor as principal of your school.

August is the time of year to reconnect with old friends and welcome new friends. We at Paul D. Henry Elementary School are very pleased to welcome everyone to the 2011-2012 school year! The first day of school is August 18, 2011. To those students and parents who are new to Paul D. Henry Elementary School we extend an especially warm welcome and best wishes for an exciting and productive year in your new school. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the activities of our school through the PTO and your child's classroom program.

As I begin my year as principal of Paul D. Henry Elementary School, I will continue to work diligently with parents and faculty to foster an atmosphere that promotes a learning community characterized by child centered instruction and decisions, academic excellence, trust, respect, community involvement, excellent communications, and recognition of both student and staff achievement. Our school motto listed at the top of the page best describes the commitment, dedication, hard work, and sincere desire of the Paul D. Henry Elementary School staff, students, and parents to make our school an outstanding learning environment for all children. It is important for students to enjoy coming to school, for teachers and staff to enjoy their work and to feel appreciated, and for parents to feel welcome and to know that Paul D. Henry Elementary School is the best school for their children. I am committed to working in collaboration with you to continue to develop and implement this shared vision. Working together as a team we will move forward in our mission this new school year to create a safe, nurturing, disciplined, and challenging environment in which all students can learn at optimum levels and become responsible members of society.

My leadership style is to be visible, accessible, and have an approachable presence in our learning community. Please feel free to contact or visit with me (505-454-5730), my door is always open! I will make every effort to return your calls the same day, night, or weekend.

Sincerely,

Anthony D. Marquez, Principal
